Why trying harder won't relieve chronic pain or fatigue (and what will)

If you’ve ever felt like you’re doing everything “right” but you’re still dealing with chronic pain, fatigue, migraines, or gut issues that just won’t resolve, you’re not alone.
Been there, done that, got the commemorative mug.
So many of us reach a point where we feel exhausted, frustrated, and confused. We've tried elimination diets. They’ve taken supplements. They’ve used prescription medications.
Sometimes we try one thing at a time and sometimes we throw the kitchen sink at our symptoms in hopes that SOMETHING gives... it's got to, right?
Some have even gone deep into the functional medicine world with labs, GI tests, and blood work hoping this would finally lead us to answers.
Sometimes there’s short-term relief.
But then the symptoms creep back in. Fatigue. Tension. Pain. Brain fog.
That's when disaster strikes and the most damaging belief sets in: Something must be wrong with me.
But here's the truth:
The Problem Isn’t Your Body — It’s the Approach
Most conventional and even “alternative” approaches focus on managing symptoms, not healing the system underneath them.
We’re taught to throw medications or supplements at the body and hope they fix the problem. While both medications and supplements can be incredibly helpful in the right situations, they’re often treated as the solution instead of supportive tools.
This leaves us feeling uncertain, stuck, and constantly chasing the next thing. The next lab. The next supplement. The next thing to add to your already exhausting list of to dos.
Idk about you, but I aint got time for throwing spaghetti at the wall to see what sticks anymore.
I know this firsthand. I went down the Western medicine path. Then the functional medicine rabbit hole. I tried procedures, injections, chiropractic care, acupuncture.... all with the hope that this would finally be the thing that worked.
What it led to instead was burnout, confusion, and frustration.
What I really needed was simplicity and intention.
Why Healing Can’t Happen in Survival Mode
This is where the foundation often falls apart.
The body cannot heal when it feels unsafe.
Healing happens in rest, repair, and digestion, not in fight-or-flight.
Every thought we think, every stressor we carry, and the way we speak to ourselves sends a message to the body about whether it’s safe or in danger.
When the brain perceives threat, whether it be rushing the kids to soccer or off to (another) doctor's appointment, overthinking, self-judgment, or fear that we’ll never heal... stress hormones like cortisol and adrenaline stay elevated. Over time, inflammation rises, digestion slows, hormones fall out of balance, and pain signals get louder.
This isn’t “woo-woo.” It’s biology.
When we live in chronic stress, even unknowingly, the body stays in protection mode.
And a body in protection mode cannot heal.
Let's talk about the three pillars of Vitality and what I implement on my own healing journey and with the women that I work with.
Pillar One: Mindset & Nervous System Regulation
True healing begins with creating safety in the body.
Calm thoughts create calm chemistry, and calm chemistry allows healing to turn back on.
When we shift the narrative from “My body is failing me” to “My body is trying to protect me”,
something powerful happens. The nervous system begins to settle. Inflammation can come down. The body can finally exhale.

Pillar Two: Healing Nourishment
Nutrition info these days is abundant and it can literally make your head spin...
Low-carb. Keto. Paleo. Carnivore. Fasting.
Every expert has a different opinion, and those opinions often change.
What most of the noise misses is this: food is information.
Nutrition isn’t just about calories or macros... it’s about the signals we send to the body.
Food can either calm the system or overload it.
Healing nourishment supports the nervous system, gut, liver, and immune systems. These are the systems responsible for repair. When these systems are supported, the body can stop putting out fires and start healing.
This isn’t about restriction or perfection.
It’s about nourishment that communicates safety, stability, and support on a cellular level.
Pillar Three: An Aligned Lifestyle
Even with the right mindset and nutrition, healing can stall if daily life is chaotic or misaligned.
Alignment looks like:
Honoring rest instead of pushing through exhaustion
Choosing supportive movement over constant intensity
Eating mindfully instead of always on the go
Setting boundaries when the body is asking for space
Healing doesn’t require fancy protocols or hours of meditation. It requires small, predictable cues that help the body trust again.
Alignment is the bridge between intention and integration. It turns healing from something you do into something you live.
You Were Never Broken
If what you’ve tried hasn’t worked, it’s not because you failed.
Often, you were given pieces of the puzzle without the full picture.
Healing doesn’t happen through mindset alone. Or nutrition alone. Or lifestyle alone.
It happens when all three work together.
Your body was never broken. It’s been waiting for the right conditions to recover.
And you have the ability to create those conditions.. starting today.
With love and vitality,
Court
